Mule Deer populations are looking better - so says a recent study done by the ND Game and Fish Department.  This study shows the population up by 21% over last year.  The factors cited include better fawn survival and a moratorium over the last four years on antlerless mulies.

Pronghorn hunters did well with on overall success rate of over 80% with an average of just over two days hunting per hunter. Next year's season will be announced in July.

Moose and Elk lottery results are in and can be viewed here.  Those successful should receive written notification this week.

A bighorn sheep lottery is to be held in September after the population numbers have been assessed.

Lake trout (Photo credit: Wikipedia) New lake trout and splake regulations went into effect on June 14, 2012. The new regulations affect certain ports on Lake Huron. The daily possession limit is three (3) lake trout or splake and the minimum size limit is 15 inches. The possession season is from May 1 through September 30.  Click here  for additional information.  SOUTHEAST LOWER PENINSULA Lake Erie:  Walleye fishing remains steady in Ohio waters, east of Sputnik. Limits are possible in Michigan waters however they are not coming easy. The better spots in Michigan were 21 to 25 feet of water in Brest Bay, off Stony Point and along the Michigan-Ohio line. Buoys 1 and 2 off the River Raisin channel were also producing walleye. A few boats did well for perch in 22 feet of water off Fermi.
