Florida Strain Largemouth Bass Released in Oklahoma Waters

According to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, introducing Florida strain largemouth bass is a "resourceful way to

positively influence bass populations."  According to Ryan Ryswyk, southwest region fisheries biologist for the Wildlife Department, the stockings are not intended to increase the overall bass numbers in the lakes, but rather to introduce genetic influences.

 The strain has been introduced into Humphreys and Clear Creek Lakes.  "The adult Florida bass that are stocked in these lakes will spawn with native bass, creating what are known as 'F1s. These F1s will have the Florida genetics needed to grow to a large size as well as the native genetics to survive at cooler wintertime temperatures."

Weekly Fishing Report Michigan Department of Natural Resources June 21, 2012

Lake trout (Photo credit: Wikipedia) New lake trout and splake regulations went into effect on June 14, 2012. The new regulations affect certain ports on Lake Huron. The daily possession limit is three (3) lake trout or splake and the minimum size limit is 15 inches. The possession season is from May 1 through September 30.  Click here  for additional information.  SOUTHEAST LOWER PENINSULA Lake Erie:  Walleye fishing remains steady in Ohio waters, east of Sputnik. Limits are possible in Michigan waters however they are not coming easy. The better spots in Michigan were 21 to 25 feet of water in Brest Bay, off Stony Point and along the Michigan-Ohio line. Buoys 1 and 2 off the River Raisin channel were also producing walleye. A few boats did well for perch in 22 feet of water off Fermi.
