Join the online community for the latest in landscape conservation efforts

April 23, 2013 - The Upper Midwest and Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC) today released its newly designed public Web siteGreatLakesLCC.org to promote effective conservation through collaboration and sound science.

The LCC facilitates dialogue among federal, state, non-governmental, academic and private interests to build a collaborative network of knowledge surrounding natural resources issues impacting the upper Midwest and Great Lakes landscape. LCC partners are working together to bridge the gap between science and natural resources management while tackling broad reaching natural resources challenges like climate change, aquatic and terrestrial connectivity, energy development, and socio-economic implications of conservation practices.

GreatLakesLCC.org provides natural resources professionals and the public with access to shared conservation priorities, ongoing scientific research, funding opportunities, and educational resources, while offering continued transparency on behalf of the LCC community.

This network of knowledge equips the upper Midwest and Great Lakes community with the tools necessary to prepare for and address current and future stressors impacting the natural resources of this ecologically diverse and economically important landscape.

Weekly Fishing Report Michigan Department of Natural Resources June 21, 2012

Lake trout (Photo credit: Wikipedia) New lake trout and splake regulations went into effect on June 14, 2012. The new regulations affect certain ports on Lake Huron. The daily possession limit is three (3) lake trout or splake and the minimum size limit is 15 inches. The possession season is from May 1 through September 30.  Click here  for additional information.  SOUTHEAST LOWER PENINSULA Lake Erie:  Walleye fishing remains steady in Ohio waters, east of Sputnik. Limits are possible in Michigan waters however they are not coming easy. The better spots in Michigan were 21 to 25 feet of water in Brest Bay, off Stony Point and along the Michigan-Ohio line. Buoys 1 and 2 off the River Raisin channel were also producing walleye. A few boats did well for perch in 22 feet of water off Fermi. Crawler harnesses worked best and the hot colors were purple, copper and peach. Detroit River:  Perch were caught around Humbug and Rat Island. Bass seas...
