Project WILD Workshop Offered in Central Ohio

COLUMBUS, OH – Teachers, scout leaders, naturalists, and other formal and non-formal educators interested in conservation and environmental education should consider attending a Project WILD workshop, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

Project WILD is a supplementary education program emphasizing awareness, appreciation, and understanding of wildlife and natural resources.  Attractive and easy to use, Project WILD is an ideal way to supplement your curriculum and fire the imagination of your students.  Project WILD teaches young people how to think about wildlife, not what to think.  The hands-on, diverse activities help develop problem-solving and decision making skills in determining responsible human actions.

The next workshop in central Ohio is being offered on Wednesday, May 23rd at the District 1 Office, located at 1500 Dublin Road Columbus Ohio 43215.  The workshop is free of charge and will take place from 9am – 4pm.  Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch, but local fast-food options are available.

Weekly Fishing Report Michigan Department of Natural Resources June 21, 2012

Lake trout (Photo credit: Wikipedia) New lake trout and splake regulations went into effect on June 14, 2012. The new regulations affect certain ports on Lake Huron. The daily possession limit is three (3) lake trout or splake and the minimum size limit is 15 inches. The possession season is from May 1 through September 30.  Click here  for additional information.  SOUTHEAST LOWER PENINSULA Lake Erie:  Walleye fishing remains steady in Ohio waters, east of Sputnik. Limits are possible in Michigan waters however they are not coming easy. The better spots in Michigan were 21 to 25 feet of water in Brest Bay, off Stony Point and along the Michigan-Ohio line. Buoys 1 and 2 off the River Raisin channel were also producing walleye. A few boats did well for perch in 22 feet of water off Fermi.
