  • 14 GPS/Geocaching 101

Sunday 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
(Families) Global Positioning System (GPS) units are fast becoming popular technology. A fun way to learn how to use a GPS unit is by Geocaching. Geocaching is an outdoor activity that uses GPS coordinates to search for caches hidden by others. It is a treasure hunt, hike, and quality family time all rolled into one. Join us for an afternoon of fun as you find some hidden treasures at the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. (Reservations begin October 31.)

Just Desserts
Saturday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
(Families) As Thanksgiving nears, a little warm-up for the meal preparation seems to be in order. While the full meal is delicious, let’s face it - dessert is the real celebrity. Have a light lunch, and then join us to tame your sweet tooth with a variety of Dutch oven desserts. Discover the basics of Dutch oven cooking and help prepare a few sweet treats. We will provide all the fixings and coffee too. (Reservations run October 30 through November 14.)

Wednesday 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
(Families) Learn how to use a Dutch oven to cook some of your favorite dishes. This is a great activity that gets the whole family involved while learning a priceless skill. You’ll be surprised at how delightful the meals can be when cooking with this centuries old method! This program meets at the Dennis & Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center. Appetites are welcome! (Reservations begin October 18.)
