Wisconsin DNR Meets with Waterfowl Hunters to Discuss Issues

During the first and second week of August, Wisconsin waterfowl hunters and anyone else interested in the management of waterfowl in the state, will have an opportunity to provide input. Hearings will be held August 5th-8th where residents can hear what the DNR plans consist of, and to offer suggestions to DNR officials.

One of the primary topics of discussion is always seasons.  Citizens can lend their support to the past organization of Wisconsin waterfowl hunting seasons, or offer suggestions for changes.  Also discussed will be bag limits for various species as well as locations for permitted waterfowl hunting.


Proposals for state seasons are somewhat dictated by USFWS regulatory restrictions.  After those come out, Wisconsin's proposed waterfowl hunting regulations and seasons will be ready for viewing on August 5th.  For more information on these meetings or to look at proposed waterfowl season info after Aug. 5th, visit http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/waterfowl.html.

Weekly Fishing Report Michigan Department of Natural Resources June 21, 2012

Lake trout (Photo credit: Wikipedia) New lake trout and splake regulations went into effect on June 14, 2012. The new regulations affect certain ports on Lake Huron. The daily possession limit is three (3) lake trout or splake and the minimum size limit is 15 inches. The possession season is from May 1 through September 30.  Click here  for additional information.  SOUTHEAST LOWER PENINSULA Lake Erie:  Walleye fishing remains steady in Ohio waters, east of Sputnik. Limits are possible in Michigan waters however they are not coming easy. The better spots in Michigan were 21 to 25 feet of water in Brest Bay, off Stony Point and along the Michigan-Ohio line. Buoys 1 and 2 off the River Raisin channel were also producing walleye. A few boats did well for perch in 22 feet of water off Fermi.
