Mountain Lion Reported in Oahe Dam Area

PIERRE, S.D. – A reported mountain lion sighting near the Oahe Dam north of Pierre has been confirmed.  A trail camera utilized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photographed the mountain lion passing though an undeveloped natural area below Oahe Dam.
This mountain lion was photographed at night and has not been aggressive or judged to be a threat to public safety.
The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) has protocols in place to respond to mountain lion sightings.  GFP policy is to kill mountain lions if they show aggressive behavior toward humans or attack livestock or pets.
